Experience Fly Fishing

The name Clearwater has been synonymous with fly fishing since the 1980's. We invite you to experience the beauty and unique opportunities our home waters have to offer whether fishing on your own, with one of our expert hides or by participating in our world-reknown classes.

Schools and Instructions

Clearwater Lodge provides the most extensive fly fishing school in the West. For more than 25 years the name Clearwater has been synonymous with fly fishing instruction. We have taught hundreds of guests the skills and pleasures of fly fishing. Whether to refresh your angling ability or take up the sport as a beginner, Clearwater Lodge offers both structured courses and custom guide days to meet any anglers instructional needs.

Home Waters

The 100 miles of forested mountain country between the volcanic peaks of Mt Shasta to the north and Mt Lassen to the south hold the finest concentration of wild trout waters in California. Two remarkable spring creeks and three freestone rivers offer a range of fly fishing opportunities unmatched on the west coast. In addition to these five rivers, we have a number of smaller spring-fed creeks and stillwaters that grow rainbows of impressive size and beauty. Because these rivers are all within easy driving distance of each other, Clearwater guides often take guests to fish two or more fisheries a day.

The Clearwater guide team is truly exceptional. They are all accomplished anglers as well as patient teachers and pleasant companions for a day on the water. A great many returning guests request the same guide they previously fished with at Clearwater. This entire staff of guides is arguably the best group of guides in the west.
