Do I need to bring my own fishing gear or do you have gear to rent?
Clearwater Lodge has an excellent stock of gear that we loan to guests. Gear available to borrow includes rods, reels, waders, boots, wading staffs, and wading belts. We have a fully stocked fly shop on the premises that has all the essential items for your trip including flies, leader, tippet, and other terminal tackle. We also carry shirts, hats, books, DVD's, vests, packs, socks and rain jackets.

Does the lodge provide lunches if we are fishing on our own?
Yes. All clients who stay at Clearwater whether they are participating in a guided fishing trip, school or are fishing on their own will have a lunch packed for them each morning.

Does the lodge sell fishing licenses?
Yes. Clearwater Lodge sells California fishing licenses. We carry one day, two day and resident season licenses here at the lodge.

If I forget something is there a store nearby?
Yes. The town of Fall River Mills is approximately 8 minutes away. The town of Burney is 15 minutes away and has a Safeway and a Rite-Aid.

I am planning on coming to Clearwater Lodge with a non-fishing guest. What is there to do for people who don't fish?
The Intermountain Area has lots of outdoor activities for people who do not fish. Burney Falls State Park is 20 minutes from the lodge and has a gorgeous 120 ft waterfall, hiking trails, a beach with swimming area, rental boats and a visitors center. Lassen National Park is about one hour and 20 minutes from the lodge and has a number of beautiful hikes and several visitor's centers as well as lava tubes to explore. The Fall River Valley is an excellent place to ride bikes (we do not rent them, but you are welcome to bring your own!). Kayakers and bird watchers can explore the waters of the Fall River Valley (again, we don't rent kayaks but some guests do bring their own). The McCloud river is about 45 miles north of the lodge and is a beautiful river to hike along. The town of McCloud is a quaint old mill town and has an interesting down town area to explore. Just 12 miles north west of McCloud is the town of Mt. Shasta which has shopping and restaurants and incredible views of Mt. Shasta and the surrounding Castle Crags. For more information on non-fishing activities, please see our recreation page.

Do I have to take a school to come to Clearwater ?
